Empties - May 2015

Empties

may empties - the beauty puff

It's time for The Beauty Puff's first empties post!  I have no idea how often these will be posted, but I was doing some "spring cleaning" and figured this was a good time!  Most of these things are hair related because I go through those the fastest.  I have not done reviews for my typical full size shampoo/conditioners yet, but that is on my list!  For now I wanted to go through samples that had been building up.  So here is my empties list and a very brief overview of my likes/dislikes.  Enjoy!

From left to right, top then bottom:

Palmetto Derma Facial Serum

I got this serum in a Boxycharm quite a while ago.  Admittedly it took me a few weeks to actually start using it because I had other skincare products I wanted to finish first.  Overall I loved this serum.  It is the first product I have ever used with hyaluranic acid in it and my skin just loved it.  Knowing that and the high price point of this serum, I did some research and found another more affordable serum from Oz Naturals that I also love.  That being said, I will not be repurchasing the Palmetto Derma serum but loved finding something that worked for my skin!

Laura Geller GlamLash Mascara

This mascara came in a Flawless in a Flash set by Laura Geller.  I LOVE these sets.  Not only are they incredibly affordable, but you can try a variety of Laura Geller products to see what you would like in a full size.  I really enjoyed this mascara.  It did not clump or smudge and wore very well throughout the day.  My lashes were separated and lengthened by the incredible rubber brush.  I normally gravitate toward bristle brushes but this one was actually very nice!  Since mascaras go bad so quickly (3 months or so) I typically do not spend a lot on them.  That being said I will look out for this mascara or others by Laura Geller in another set so I can save money but still enjoy an amazing product!

Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo

I really loved this dry shampoo!  It came in a Boxycharm box and I am always excited to get this type of product!  Dry shampoos can get to be expensive depending on what kind you get and how often you use it so I was thrilled this was included.  The full size of this product is definitely more than I would spend on dry shampoo considering the rate at which I go through it.  However, this little bottle lasted much longer than I expected.  Funny enough, just as I was finished with this dry shampoo, wanting to try another Oscar Blandi product, my Ipsy bag came with a FULL SIZE volume and texture spray.  Talk about luck!  I am really enjoying this brand in general and love that Boxycharm introduced me to it.

Frizz Ease Beyond Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner

I received these deluxe samples in my New Beauty TestTube along with a primer I have not finished yet.  I LOVE Frizz Ease products.  They tend to cost a little more but they work like a dream.  This shampoo and conditioner prepped my hair for styling and helped control frizz and maintain my waves throughout the day.  I see Frizz Ease coupons in my Sunday paper on occasion so the next time I find one I will definitely be putting it toward these products.  Usually if I have a choice between a more expensive shampoo or conditioner I choose the conditioner.  This way it stays in my hair longer and has time to nourish/do its job so I feel it's more worth it.

Essence Ultime Repair & Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner

These samples came in my Walmart Beauty Box.  I can't say I was a complete fan of them.  The smell was quite off-putting and I noticed others commenting on the scent of theirs as well.  I am not sure if this had to do with the just samples that were sent out because they get mostly good reviews on the Walmart site.  That being said, the two times I used this shampoo/conditioner (there's maybe one more use left in the bottle, if that) I did not notice any drastic difference in the condition of my hair.  It didn't feel particularly soft or silky.  It actually felt a bit stripped and dry.  Needless to say, I will not be repurchasing this shampoo or conditioner.

Bliss Fabulous Foaming Facewash

I received this deluxe sample in the Mally Game Face Bag from Beauty.com.  Admittedly I used this up a while ago but I have been saving it until I had enough empty products to share!  I really loved this face wash.  It has a light fresh scent that did not irritate my skin at all.  It also exfoliates without being scratchy or harsh on the skin.  I did not see or feel any kind of exfoliating beads.  It was definitely gentle enough to be used every single day and I really enjoyed it.  This is another pricey brand that I'm not sure I would go out of my way to purchase again.  However, I am always seeing Bliss products at my local Marshalls so I would definitely look into it more at a more reasonable price!
