Palmetto Derma Collagen Booster & Restoration Serum

palmetto derma serum - the beauty puff

The Product

I received the Palmetto Derma facial serum in October's Boxycharm.  It is packed with skin-loving ingredients that work wonders.  It has Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Hyaluranic Acid, just to name a few.  It protects skin and keeps it fresh while increasing collagen growth.  As an added bonus, Palmetto Derma uses certified organic ingredients!

The Function

As someone with sensitive and acne prone skin, I am always hesitant to try new products on my face.  Skincare is very important and makeup only goes so far!  With that in mind I have tried to begin a regimen that not only benefits my skin now, but will help keep it beautiful for the future.  Now, I didn't try this serum at first.  I let it sit alongside my other "lotions and potions" for a couple weeks before getting up the courage to try it.  And once I did, I was amazed.  This serum has been a miracle in a little bottle for me!  The first time I tried it, I put it on at night and by morning I was amazed.  My skin looked brighter, healthier, and had a glow that was (for once) not due to oil.  Incredible.

This serum is thin, absorbs very quickly and you do not need a lot to cover your entire face.  You do, however, need to let it absorb completely before applying your moisturizer.  (Yes, serum before moisturizer!)  It does not affect makeup application or leave any residue on the face whatsoever.  It's an easy first step to any morning routine that will benefit your skin in multiple ways.
What's not to love?

The Style

The serum comes in a glass bottle with a pump.  This makes it very convenient and sanitary.  The only issue I have noticed, is that it can be messy at times.  Because it is a thin liquid, you have to be careful product doesn't shoot out and get everywhere.  When I dispense the product on my fingers, I make sure my hand is "cupped" to prevent product from escaping.  I would be hesitant to travel with it because it's glass, but with careful packing, you could do it.

The Bottom Line

I have used a number of skincare items with Vitamin C and E in the past, but I think the main ingredient that set this serum apart from the rest is the hyaluranic acid.  As much as I love this product, the $48.00 price tag was a bit steep for something I'd love to use all the time.  I've since researched other serums with similar beneficial ingredients and will not be purchasing this exact serum in the future.  I will, however, share my new skincare discovery as an affordable alternative in a future post!
